We believe substantial life change happens in the context of relationships that are committed to applying the truths of Scripture. Because of this, we work hard to make sure that small groups don't become just "another thing" on a buffet of ministry options. Our small group ministry is the primary vehicle for discipleship and care at Vanguard. Therefore, joining a small group is essential to getting "plugged in".
The vGroup ministry exists to further the vision of Vanguard with intentional, spiritual growth in the context of loving, accountable relationships.
WHAT IS A vGROUP?
A vGroup is 8-16 adult Christ-followers who…
Share the same stage of life
Meet at least 3x per month
Value "intentional discipleship"
Apply the Scriptures together
Pray for each other
Encourage each other
Hold each other accountable
Serve together
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE VGROUP MINISTRY?
You've probably heard the old saying: "When you aim at nothing—you hit nothing." vGroup Leaders are trained to lead their groups into a deeper, richer group experience by pursuing these 4 biblical objectives:
- Changed lives
- Biblical fellowship
- Mutual ministry
- Multiplication of leaders
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL GROUP GATHERING LOOK LIKE?
Our 4 biblical objectives shape the way our groups spend their time together. A vGroup intentionally allocates it's 120 minutes into the following time blocks:
Belonging—
for fellowship and relationship building
Breakdown—the text of Scripture as a group to discuss how it applies to our individual lives
Breakout—into gender specific, smaller groups for loving accountability and prayer
As the Lord entrusts more people to our church, we will ask existing groups to make room for more by birthing new groups every 12-18 months. New groups are started during two "launch windows": early Fall and shortly after the New Year. vGroup registration opens a few weeks prior to the launch window.

And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
