Serve

We believe the Lord has called all Christ-followers to be ministers in His church. The Scriptures teach that serving the Lord in the church…

  • Decreases our selfishness (Php. 2:3)
  • Increases our humility (Php. 2:3)
  • Makes us more like Christ (Php. 2:5-7)
  • Builds His church by using our spiritual gifts (1 Co. 14:12)
  • Will be rewarded by the Lord (1 Co. 3:14)

The links below provide an overview of the current volunteer needs we have in our church. Clicking on a specific position will show you an overview of what the position entails. If you fill out the information form and click “volunteer”, you will be contacted by the team captain so that you can ask any additional questions you might have, schedule training and be added to the team’s rotation.

1st Impressions

1st Impression Team Members should be faithful, available, submissive, teachable and willing to be held accountable. Ideal team members will possess a genuine love for people, have a “customer service” mindset (Gal. 5:13), and share our church’s commitment to excellence (Col. 3:23-24).

As “doorkeepers in the house of the Lord” (Ps. 84:10), responsibilities include reporting to your team captain no later than 30 minutes prior to the worship service; warmly greeting worship service attenders; making it a priority to get to know 1st time and returning guests; escorting visiting parents to our children’s ministry check-in station; helping the security team spot suspicious behavior and answering questions about the church.  Volunteers at Vanguard are expected to schedule a substitute when unable to serve and notify their direct report who that substitute will be (contact info for subs provided).
